PRESS RELEASE ON THE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY COMMITMENT TO UNRESERVEDLY SUPPLY FUEL ACROSS KENYA
Petroleum Institute of East Africa (PIEA), the professional industry association whose membership is drawn from large, medium, small oil marketing companies, vital petroleum common user facilites as well as oil and gas service provides is aware of a notice circulating on social media (Internal Notice-Kenya Oil Marketers Association) proposing to cease the supply of all fuel products beginning Thursday 28 April 2022 2 p.m.
We wish to clarify that PIEA is not party to the reprehensible proposal in the said memo by an unknown author.
Members of PIEA subscribe to codes of ethics and conduct that compel them to comply with all laws that govern the sector. PIEA members are obligated to abide by all applicable laws, and further to protect the public against fraud and unfrair trade practices.
All PIEA Members endorse and subscribe to the principle of self regulation where the voluntary comply with industry laws beacuse it is well understood that investeros in this energy space have a responsibility and obligation to positively contribute to Kenya's sustainable economic development
